(NEW YORK)–This past week, a Georgia grand jury indicted both a father and son for the deadly Apalachee High School shooting in Winder last month that killed four and wounded nine.

The father, Colin Gray, faces 29 counts, including second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, child cruelty and reckless conduct charges.

This represents only the second time in U.S. history that a parent faces charges connected to a minor’s mass shooting, following the precedent-setting case of Jennifer and James Crumbley. The Michigan couple received 10-15 year sentences after their son’s school shooting.

Investment Opportunity

In September, we highlighted MetAlert (OTC:MLRT), and their GunAlert gun-lock product as a potential play on the growing liability risk parents face around mass shootings.

GunAlert is a smart gun safety device that attaches to firearms, gun bags, or lock boxes, instantly notifying owners via smartphone when the gun is moved. This technology provides an additional layer of protection against accidental shootings, especially by children or family members who may not understand firearm dangers. By alerting gun owners to unauthorized handling, GunAlert enables swift action to prevent potential accidents. https://mygunalert.com/how-it-works/

Market Potential

There are approximately 5 million single-parent households in the U.S. that own guns. At just 1% of this specific market, those 50,000 single-parent households could equate to significant revenues for MLRT.

$150 unit x 50,000 = $7.5 million
$5/month subscription x 50,000 = $250k x 12/months = $3 million

$7.5 million x $3 million = $10.5 million

$MLRT current valuation: $1.5 million

Note: This formula reflects only 1% of this specific market segment.

Conclusion

Parents must take proactive steps to prevent unauthorized access to firearms, especially given the increasing scrutiny of their role in these tragedies.

Despite its promising market potential, MLRT’s current valuation is still just $1.5 million, with shares just under $0.05 per share. Given the critical nature of gun safety and GunAlert’s innovative solution, this valuation may represent an attractive entry point, considering the potential liability parents now face around mass shootings.
